Jobber vs Housecall Pro: the money side, plan by plan

Both are field service platforms for small home-service shops, and both quote, invoice, take card payments, chase overdue invoices and sync to QuickBooks Online. The differences that matter for getting paid are in the details: which plan unlocks each feature, how the reminders behave, how card fees change by payment method, and how the QuickBooks sync handles edits. This guide lays them out side by side from each vendor’s own pages, with links. It doesn’t pick a winner.

How to read this comparison

Everything below comes from pages Jobber and Housecall Pro publish: their pricing pages, help centers, feature pages and developer docs, read on 2026-10-09. We haven’t run a shop on either product, and nothing here is a test result or a satisfaction ranking. Where a vendor makes a claim about itself, we say so.

// 02 · tiers

Plans, and which tier unlocks what

The single most useful thing to know before comparing features: the two vendors put the money features on different tiers. A feature that’s on the entry plan of one can be a step up on the other.

Jobber: Core, Connect, Grow, Plus

Each plan’s list on Jobber’s pricing page builds on the one before it:

Users: Jobber says “A user is anyone who accesses your account at the office or in the field to view or manage the team’s schedule.” Core includes one user; Connect and Grow are priced in bundles of 1, 5, 10 or 15 users and Plus in bundles of 5, 10 or 15; extra users are a per-user add-on, and Plus “supports up to 15 users” (Jobber: the Plus plan).

So on Jobber, automated quote and invoice follow-ups, automatic card charging and QuickBooks Online sync all start at Connect. Core lists none of them.

Housecall Pro: Basic, Essentials, MAX

From Housecall Pro’s pricing page:

Users: Basic includes 1 user, Essentials 5, MAX 8. The page publishes an additional-user price for MAX only. Housecall Pro also lists add-ons with no prices shown on the page, including CSR AI, Pipeline, Payroll, Accounting, Voice, Campaigns, Tap to Pay and Websites.

So on Housecall Pro, invoice reminders and review requests are on Basic, but QuickBooks Online sync starts at Essentials, and the API starts at MAX.

Quotes, estimates and deposits

Jobber quotes

Housecall Pro estimates

Deposits

Both can require a deposit before the job goes ahead. The mechanics differ:

// 05 · after the job

Invoices and automatic reminders

Both can chase an overdue invoice for you. They do it differently, and on different tiers.

Jobber: up to two follow-ups, Connect and up

Housecall Pro: a repeating sequence, listed on Basic

Worth checking: if you invoice in batches or use auto-invoicing, Housecall Pro’s reminders won’t run on those invoices, so confirm how your invoices would actually go out before counting on them. On Jobber, check whether two follow-ups are enough for how your customers pay. Exact settings and copy-ready reminder wording are in our overdue invoice reminders guide, and if you’re thinking about a late fee, see late fees on service invoices.

// 06 · getting paid

Payments, payouts and financing

Both run their own payment processing: Jobber Payments, and Housecall Pro’s built-in payments. Both take cards, bank payments (ACH), Tap to Pay and tips.

How card fees are structured

We don’t print rates here. What’s worth knowing is the shape:

Worth checking: the cheaper processor depends on your mix. Pull a month of payments and sort them by how they were taken (in person, online by the customer, a saved card you charged, Amex), then price that month on each vendor’s current rate page. If you charge saved cards for deposits or recurring work, look closely at Housecall Pro’s saved-card rate, and ask Jobber what it charges for saved and keyed-in cards, since its pricing page says only that card processing rates apply.

Client portal, phones and automation hooks

Client portals

Both cover approving a quote and paying an invoice online. Confirm which plan includes the portal when you talk to either vendor.

Phones and AI answering

Zapier and the API

Worth checking: if you want automation that reacts to money moving (a payment received, a payment failed), Housecall Pro’s webhooks name those events, but only on MAX. Jobber’s published Zapier triggers don’t include a paid-invoice event, so that kind of automation on Jobber likely means its API and someone who can build against it. Ask each vendor before you plan around it.

Review requests: Jobber’s pages disagree

Jobber’s help page says “Reviews is available in the United States, Canada, and Great Britain on all plans as part of Jobber’s Marketing Suite” (Jobber: reviews). Its pricing page lists Marketing Suite as a paid add-on, included in Plus. We can’t tell you which is right for your account; confirm with Jobber sales. Mechanically, Jobber asks for Google reviews through a verified Google Business Profile and “only sends one review request to a given client every 6 months.” Housecall Pro lists “Review management” on Basic and says it can “Send automated review requests after every job or payment” and show Google and Facebook reviews in one place (Housecall Pro: reviews).

// 09 · signing up

Trials, billing terms and support

// 10 · decide

Which one fits which shop

Neither is better across the board. Start from what matters most to you, and check the thing that decides it:

Both trials run on an upper tier without a credit card, so the cheapest way to decide is to run a real quote, deposit and invoice through each during the trial, then check that the features you used are on the plan you’d pay for.

If you’d rather not set it up yourself

Everything above works without us, and the linked vendor pages are the authority. Whichever you pick, half-configured software is what our cleanup and configuration engagement is for, and the Revenue Recovery Sprint starts with a baseline of what you’re actually owed and fixes the invoice data that breaks follow-up. The intake is the way in.
